BEIJING: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued an official declaration reaffirming Beijing's "firm, unwavering support" for Cuba’s economic sovereignty and announced a comprehensive bilateral assistance package including electrical grid modernization hardware, emergency fuel supplies, and solar photovoltaic technology.

The high-level diplomatic statement, delivered following bilateral consultations between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and senior Cuban diplomatic envoys in Beijing, comes as the Caribbean island nation grapples with severe nationwide power outages and acute fuel shortages exacerbated by deteriorating thermoelectric generation plants.

Beijing emphasized its opposition to unilateral external sanctions and economic blockades, reiterating commitments to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and South-South developmental partnerships.

Energy Infrastructure Reconstruction and Technology Transfers

Under the bilateral emergency energy agreement, Chinese state engineering enterprises will accelerate the delivery of specialized transformer equipment, turbine replacement components, and decentralized micro-grid battery storage systems.

The cooperation package also funds the rapid deployment of twenty-four utility-scale solar photovoltaic parks across western and central Cuban provinces, aimed at reducing the island's extreme dependency on imported heavy fuel oil for base-load power generation.

"China and Cuba share deep historic bonds of mutual respect and friendship," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated during a routine press conference. "We will continue to provide concrete assistance to help the Cuban people overcome current economic and infrastructural difficulties."
